Laura San Segundo (Madrid, 1990) is a visual artist, photographer and educator whose practice examines the conceptual and reflective possibilities of the photographic medium. Her work extends beyond its documentary potential or narrative function, employing a research-driven and playful methodology that connects images of diverse origins —including archival materials and found photographs— as well as reinterpretations of works and collections by other authors. Through this process, she recontextualizes visual codes and displaces established uses and meanings, bringing them into the present from a contemporary, critical and personal perspective.

She studied Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid and Photography at Camberwell College of Arts (London), and later completed a Master's degree in Contemporary Photography. Her artistic production has developed in parallel with commissioned projects in the fields of art and design, and her teaching activity at institutions such as the European Institute of Design (IED), Lens School of Visual Arts, the Polytechnic University of Madrid, New York University and the University of Design, Innovation and Technology (UDIT).

She has been awarded several grants and fellowships and has participated in exhibitions and festivals both in Spain and internationally, including the 89+ Marathon at the Serpentine Galleries (London), the Korean International Photography Festival, Portfolio Days & Nights at the National Audiovisual Centre of Luxembourg, and Plat(t)form at Fotomuseum Winterthur, among others. In 2023 she was selected by PhotoESPAÑA to join the European photography platform FUTURES and received the Fotolibro <40 Award to publish her first photobook, shortlisted in 2024 for the PhotoESPAÑA Award for Best Photography Book of the Year and the APhF Pick:24 Award at the Athens Photo Festival.
